XINARUTH

Christina Rutheiser, artist

Each print begins as a solid block of linoleum that I carve by hand using very sharp tools (yes, working with blades is pretty badass). The carved-away areas stay uninked, while the raised surface holds the ink and is pressed onto the paper in a process called relief printing. Because it is handmade, no two prints are ever exactly the same. Tiny variations in texture, ink coverage, or pressure are part of the process and part of the charm.

I'll work from your photo (because pets are rarely willing to sit for a portrait for hours!) to create a keepsake of your beloved pet in one of the following media: mosaic, watercolor, painted rocks, digital illustration / cartoon,  portrait in type, encaustic photo transfer. Contact me if you'd like to discuss a portrait of your pet. Different media and sizes require custom quotes.

I was a graphic designer for several decades back in the day, and have plenty of work to show for it if you've got a project you want to consult on. Favorite things to work on include invitations, annual appeals, book covers, posters, and digital illustrations.  If you'd like to see some examples of my design work, reach out and let me know what kind of project you have in mind.
